Blogger of the Week

Hello, welcome to my first ever blog post! Today I had the opportunity to look at a few blogs that were aimed for English language teachers. As this is my first time creating a blog, I was very intrigued to see what other people wrote and included in theirs. The most useful blog that I discovered was Nik Peachey’s Blog

Nik Peachey provides useful ways to incorporate technology in the classroom by giving lesson ideas, tips for teaching in the classroom, exercises related to the technology he suggests, as well as video or image explanations of how the programs work. As an English language teacher, I am very excited to incorporate some of these programs and tools in my lesson plans. The most interesting tools that I found from Nik Peachey’s Blog were:

The ease of use and navigation of Nik Peachey’s Blog makes it easy for everyone to look for something with the help of the 'Search' button that is provided, a time stamp of all his previous posts and  a collection of word tags regarding the previous topics.

Through his blog, you can also access his publications and presentations regarding the English language classroom.

As a novice teacher, I found this blog really helpful and I will definitely use Nik Peachey's suggested tools and advice in my future classes!

Thank you for sharing! What you' ve mentioned are really useful tools for me during the teaching, especially for 123ContactForm. It can be applied into any online courses to design interactive materials through multimedias. And all those work can be sold which can motivate more advanced teachers to display their abilities More importantly for those novice teachers like me, we would have more access to those talented materials or services online, which will inspire us to be innovative in the future.

Hi Vera,
Great that you have already got a number of commenters - your blog post attracted some interest! I agree that Nik Peachey's blog is great - it is a super model for making an ELT blog because he evaluates each tool carefully with 'walk throughs' and frank discussion of any drawbacks. One thing to be careful of is the date of the post - some of the ones you listed were made a long time ago. That is not always a problem but Wordle for example doesn't work any more (unfortunately as it was a great tool!). Well done for starting with a clear, informative and well expressed blog post - keep it up!
