As a language learner I always liked the incorporation of language tools in the classroom and that was because most of the time the teacher only taught out of textbooks. I always considered the use of technology in the lesson very motivating! Therefore, when I became a language teacher myself, I always tried to make the lesson more entertaining and motivating through the use of technology.
This week, after having the chance to experiment with different learning tools, I found my new favorite! Quizlet doesn't only reinforce your curriculum as a teacher, it can additionally be used as a revision and learning tool for students. It can help you master whatever you are interested in learning, help you practice for a test, a language or to increase your memorization skills. It is a key technology tool for the teachers that feel the need to enhance their learners' motivation and interest!
Quizlet can turn the anxiety-filled revision period into an enjoyable learning experience through it's provided study sets that include interactive flashcards, games and diagrams that are already made by other online users, or, if you feel that the given study sets don't satisfy your learning needs, you can always create your own. The study sets support seven learning styles and the students have the opportunity to choose their learning style when customizing their study modes. Teachers can also design study sets for their students as a way of evaluating and assessing what the students have learned or already know. More information about the seven learning modes can be found in this video:
Lastly, my personal favorite feature is Quizlet Live which is a teacher-led collaborative and competitive classroom game. The game builds the students' group-work, communication, vocabulary and accuracy skills. Students are grouped into teams and race the other teams for a chance to win the game! While playing the game, the students have to talk with their teammates in order to provide an answer to the questions that are made by the teacher. Good communication skills and group-work is very essential for this game!! The rules and instructions of the game are explained in the video below.
If you are interested in incorporating Quizlet into your lesson but you are unsure on how to use it, Russell Stannard provides a very informative introductory video that talks about all the basics of using Quizlet.
Thank you for reading my blog, see you next week! Please feel free to leave any comments!😁
